anyone use fl for rolling sorta mellow type hip-hop, dont know the name for it, like the tunes in jehst's falling down album.

im after finding some decent sample packs or plugins,

just started out on fl recently , so any tips on hip-hop production would be gravy. uk style.

im setting my beats at 85 - 90 bpm that sound about right, anything that i hould make sure i add to a track ...

any info welcomed and hugely appreciated ,

first off you need some decent breaks, thats the foundation of hip hop, theres loads of places you can get breaks packs online, or ya could do it properly and sample them yourself of old records

heres some good links for breaks....

im impressed, how long you been producing for and what you use ?? , so your a london lad , in the home of it then. im listening to ' free at last ' tight tune. some dnb tunes on your album aswell yeah, nice mix i like it .

considering what you say ure set-up is, you have pulled of some good tunes. respect to that man.

cheers for the links to get me started big help, so using pre-made breaks is that the thing to do. i always thought starting from scratch was the only way forward. sorry for my lack of knowledge, only just started producing really.

ill let you know how i get on with those breaks, what about plugs, do i need to mes with them ?? , or just mess about with the breaks and then build up a bassline on that ..
good tracks anyway, im listening through now. ill add a couple that i like to my myspace when ive sortd it properly.

been makeing tracks for a few years now, i mainly use fruityloops with all sorts of plugs, depends on what im working on

using breaks and is not a definitive rule, its just the classic way of doing things

i usually take a break and chop it up, layer it with another break and add a tiny bit of distortion as a starting point

but like i say u dont have to use breaks, alot of producers just use individual drum hits to make beats

as for the rest of the track, well that can go a million different ways really, you could loop a couple of bars off an old soul record for your instruments, or write a nice lil piano melody to go with the beats, or both, u just gotta be creative mate, you'll get there in the end
