Back a few years ago now it was evident that quite a few big deejays would treat Cardiff as playing in the sticks, would bring a watered down record bag for the out-of-towners. We knew this, as we would travel around a few different citys looking for our fix of DnB and saw the difference with our own eyes. But their is one moment in 2002 that would change all of this, namely a track called 'Return of Forever' released by Hospital Records as a single for the coverted 'True Colours' album. In my opinion it was one of those tracks that changed the face of drum and bass and also created those once in a while shockwaves outside of the DnB community and into popular culture. For us Cardiffians it means a little more now, now when we book people for nights like Aperture, Overture, Alliance, Rewind and Junglised we know that the names on the bill have to think a little harder when they come to Cardiff, because now this is High Contrasts Yard, one of the most important people in the drum and bass scene today.
Cardiff and Aperture have the first date of what will be the 'Tough Guys Don't Dance' tour, in my opinion High Contrasts greatest achievment so far. Alongside Lincoln Barrett will be Stamina MC, Cyantific, Nu:Tone and True Meaning as well as the Aperture Choir [Krisp, Redeye and Rueben]. This night is guaranteed to go off, with giveaways from Hospital Records, Drone1 Clothing, Where's The Jungle and Catapult records this is a night not to miss. This is a party dedicated to the man who has single-handedly put Cardiff firmly on the Drum and Bass map, come and show your support for Mr High Contrast.
